MARIN CERTIFIED FARMERS’ MARKETS
Every week in Marin County you can enjoy certified organic, specialty and seasonal fruit and vegetables, artisan foods and baked goods directly from local producers. Some markets are open all year round, others just during the warmer months. Click here to find a handy guide with all of Marin’s farmers’ markets and when they are open.
After helping to launch the national resurgence of farmers markets in the 1980s, Marin County saw the number of its markets surge to nine in 1997 and remain consistent for the next decade. Since then, however, the number has grown, with new markets launching in Marin City and Marinwood. Those numbers mirror a national trend: the number of U.S. farmers markets grew from 1,755 in 1994 to 2,863 in 2000 and reached 5,274 in 2009, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
